Withdrawal from digoxin resulted in:
- worsening heart failure in 23 patients, compared to 4 in the group continuing with digoxin (p<0.001)
- a relative risk of worsening heart failure of 5.9 vs. the digoxin group
- a reduction in maximal exercise tolerance (p=0.01)
- a lower quality of life (p=0.04)
- decreased ejection fraction (p=0.001)
- increased heart rate (p=0.001)
