NUMBER TEN

The posterior basal bronchopulmonary segment of the left inferior lobe is supplied by the posterior basal bronchus, a branch of the left inferior lobe bronchus.

It has medial, posterior and diaphragmatic surfaces which are not enclosed by surrounding segments. Anterior to its medial surface, which forms part of the posteroinferior mediastinal surface of the left lung, is the medial basal segment. Anterior to its lateral surface are the lateral basal bronchopulmonary segment and possibly a superior subapical segment. Superiorly is the apical segment of the inferior lobe. Inferiorly is the diaphragmatic surface of the lung.
