The signs of retrocaecal appendicitis may include:
- tenderness:
- ill-defined anteriorly, but if localised it is usually lateral to McBurney's point
- often most severe at lateral and posterior aspects of abdominal wall
- spasm of quadratus lumborum on right side compared to left
- positive tests:
- psoas test
- obturator test
