Features on investigation include:

  • tramline calcification on skull radiology; it is the cortex which is calcified

  • angiography demonstrates dilated deep cerebral veins and decreased cortical drainage

  • gyriform or serpentine calcification as revealed by CT is characteristic of Sturge Weber syndrome (1)

  • MRI is useful to detect leptomeningeal angiomatosis in Sturge Weber syndrome
