systemic causes of neck pain

Systemic causes of neck pain, tends to be less localised and often results in painful movement in all directions. The pain may be worse at rest.
Inflammatory:
- ankylosing spondylitis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- polymyalgia rheumatica
Malignancy:
- myeloma
- metastatic disease
Infection:
- Staphylococcus or other sepsis
- tuberculosis
Metabolic:
- osteomalacia
