- fractures of the nasal bones are common. They may be sustained from the front, with depression of the nasal bones, or from the side, resulting in deviation.

they may be:
- simple - skin and mucosa intact
- compound - cartilage and/or bone exposed
- in a child, always consider the possibility
of non-accidental injury.
- physical abuse should be considered in children and women (1)
