Diaphragmatic pathology:
- paralysed hemidiaphragm due to phrenic nerve palsy:
- lung cancer
- mediastinal cancer
- diaphragmatic rupture
- tumour:
- rhabdomyoma
- fibroma
- lax diaphragm
Thoracic pathology:
- lung fibrosis
- lung collapse
- pneumonectomy
- painful pleuritis
- pulmonary embolus
- rib fracture
Conditions which mimic a raised hemidiaphragm include:
- subpulmonic effusion
- chest mass
