olfactory groove meningioma

Olfactory groove meningiomas arise on the olfactory groove and produce unilateral followed by bilateral anosmia. Unilateral loss is often unnoticed.
Compression of the optic nerve may occur resulting in visual impairment with a central scotoma or other field defect.
Optic atrophy is common. In the presence of raised intracranial pressure, this may result in a Foster-Kennedy syndrome.
