diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis

Diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis presents clinically with nephritic syndrome and is characterized by the following histological features:

  • mesangial and endothelial cell proliferation
  • polymorphonuclear cell infiltrate
  • granular subepithelial deposits of C3 and immunoglobulins
  • swollen glomeruli

Diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis is caused by:

  • streptococcal infection
  • SLE
