- untreated - mortality is approximately 45% in the first 8 weeks
- rebleeding (a major cause of mortality) occurs in 30-40% of patients surviving the initial episode and peaks at 7-14 days.
- cerebral vasospams may occur in the territory of the vessel of the aneurysm.
- in 10% of patients who rebleed the source of bleeding is from an angioma.
