anatomical snuffbox
Last reviewed 01/2018
Looking at the hand, the anatomical snuffbox is the triangular region bound by two tendon groups proximal to the thumb, seen best in extension and flexion of the thumb.
The upper border is formed by the tendon of extensor pollicis longus, the lower border is extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus.
The anatomical snuffbox denotes the site of the radial artery and the scaphoid bone.
