  • delusions are common, however they become less emotionally significant e.g. the patient may believe that he is being persecuted and yet not be afraid
  • delusions may become 'encapsulated' - that is they are still held with unshakable conviction but they cease impinge on other areas of life e.g. the patient may believe that he is being irradiated by a satellite but this does not affect his daily routine
