leukocyte adhesion deficiency

Last reviewed 01/2018

Leukocyte adhesion deficiency is a genetic condition resulting from impaired production of a beta chain coding for an adhesion molecule(1).

Without correct function of the latter, leukocytes are unable to traverse endothelial cells to the region of acute inflammation. Sufferers are predisposed to recurrent bacterial infections.
