exposure of the patient
Last reviewed 01/2018
- exposure of the patient in the abdominal examination must be so that the full extent of the abdomen can be seen i.e. uncover the patient from nipples to knees.
- patients may find the examination procedure embarrassing - this can be countered by covering the parts not being actively examined at any particular time.
- the complete examination involves examination of covered areas such as the genitalia and hernial orifice.
