colour vision
Last reviewed 05/2023
Examination of colour vision may be of value in three main situations:
- optic nerve disease
- central scotoma
- congenital colour blindness
Patients with optic nerve disorders may complain that colours look "washed our" (desaturated); in such cases the field of red colour vision should be examined.
Congenital colour blindness may be tested for using Ishihara cards.
