- recurrent episodes of encephalopathy can lead to developmental delay and seizures
- neutropaenia and thrombocytopaenia predispose to infection and bleeding
- persistently raised levels of organic acids lead to:
- pancreatitis
- cardiomyopathy
- stroke (Basal ganglia)
- adults develop optic nerve atrophy
