The presentation of meningioma depends upon the site of the lesion. Epilepsy occurs in 25% of cases. Features of raised intracranial pressure and focal neurological signs are also common.
Small tumours may be asymptomatic and often are discovered incidentally on autopsy.
The incidence of meningioma varies according to site:
- parasaggital - 24%
- convexity - 18%
- olfactory groove - 10%
- sphenoidal ridge - 18%
- tuberculum sellae - 10%
- cerebellopontine angle - 8%
- others arise from the middle fossa, orbital roof, and lateral ventricle - 12%
