Barlow's syndrome

Last reviewed 09/2021

Criley et al. originally coined the term "mitral valve prolapse" to describe posterior mitral leaflet motion during systole (1).

Mitral valve prolapse is a common condition which may be asymptomatic or may be associated with atypical chest pain, syncope, palpitations, and embolic phenomena.

On auscultation there may be a mid-systolic click and late systolic murmur.
